The Something for Others Fund

This Donor Advised Fund (DAF) was started in February of 2008 by a local couple who wish to remain anonymous. The purpose of the fund is to provide annual support for projects, individuals, and organizations, which direct their efforts in community service, service learning, and service-driven leadership activities.

As a birthday gift to her husband, the wife of an anonymous couple started a donor advised fund for him.  She knew his passion was to support community service, so the fund was set up specifically for her husband to direct grants to efforts in community service, service learning, and service-driven leadership activities.  Although the Fund is available to the community as a whole, special consideration is given to youth and young adults as they seek to develop their service-driven leadership abilities and/or service to others.  While doing “Something for Others”, the couple hopes the participants develop their sense of social responsibility, think critically, serve generously, and lead responsibly.

With a Donor Advised Fund, like this one, donors can have ongoing involvement in the use of their gift(s).  Donors work with our staff, identifying ways to use dollars from the Donor Advised Fund they establish to address issues and needs they care about most.  The donors' recommendations are anonymously submitted to our local board for approval; we then distribute grant dollars.
