Complete your donation by filling in the required information
Please note that credit card transactions carry a processing fee. You may select one of two options for handling this fee (currently 3%). On an example $100 donation, 1) You may have the fee subtracted from your gift so that $97 goes to your selected fund. Or, 2) You may choose to pay the $3 fee, making your donation $103, so that the full $100 gift will go to the fund.
Give Cash or Check:
A donation of any size can be made in person or by mail. Please make checks out to Morton Community Foundation and include any gift direction in the memo section, or in a cover letter. Gifts can be mailed or dropped off to Morton Community Foundation – 135 S First Ave, Morton, IL. 61550.
Give Appreciated Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Funds
Donating appreciated stock offers unmatched tax benefits, such as avoiding capital gains tax on the appreciated value while deducting the full fair market value of stock held for more than 12 months. For example, if you purchased Apple stock 10 years ago at $20 per share, a gift of 100 shares now worth $20,000, costed you just $2,000. You avoid taxes on $18,000 in gains and can deduct the full $20,000 as a charitable deduction for tax purposes. Stock donations are easy, take minutes online, and are completely free for you and your advisor. Click the button below to learn more.
IRA Rollover/RMD/Qualified charitable distribution
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a tax-free way to support the Morton Community Foundation. Individuals 70 1/2 and older may gift up to $100,000 tax-free per year from their IRA* directly to tax exempt charities, including the Morton Community Foundation. Individuals making Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from their IRA may count a QCD toward satisfying their RMD.
Contact Scott Witzig, MCF Executive Director, at 309-291-0434 or switzig@mortoncommunityfoundation.org to discuss the process for making a Qualified Charitable Deduction to the Morton Community Foundation.
*Tax laws regarding QCDs, RMDs, and IRAs are subject to change. Please contact your financial or tax advisor for up-to-date regulations and further guidance.
give from a donor advised fund
Do you hold a Donor Advised Fund, either here at the MCF or outside the MCF? You can recommend a grant to the MCF operating fund, or to any other component fund held at the Morton Community Foundation.
WAYS TO DONATE LATER - GIVING OPTIONS
Life is busy. You live, you work, you play, you save, you plan, and you grow older. At some point, we slow down and begin to think about our life story, the legacy we want to leave, and what impact it will have on future generations.
There are many ways you can make a planned gift and leave a legacy of love and support through the DeKalb County Community Foundation. We work with you to learn about your charitable goals and offer suggestions for achieving them. By working with the Community Foundation, you can support the causes you care about most for generations to come.
The Community Foundation partners with donors and professional advisors to help with planned giving through charitable bequests, life income gifts, retirement assets, or other giving options.
SHARE YOUR HARVEST - GIVE GRAIN
Your crops are your livelihood. You prepare, you plant, you nurture, and they grow. That’s what we do with the charitable gifts entrusted to your Community Foundation, and we invite you to grow the future of your community with us.
