Oktoberfest 2012 (114)
The Foundation's annual fundraiser, Oktoberfest, was held on Saturday, November 20 at Wildwood Farms, the home of Kris & Chuck Rinkenberger. The attendance for this year's event was the largest in history at 375 people. Proceeds from the event were the largest as well. The event earned right at $70,000 to be used for the day-to-day operations of the Foundation. -
2012 Grants Announced at Bertha Frank PAC (16)
The 2012 Grants were announced on Thursday, April 26, at the Bertha Frank Performing Arts Center. The Morton Community Foundation hosted the Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event. Recipients of the grants were in attendance and were recognized. Hors d' Oeuvres were provided by Nelson's Catering, Springfield, IL. Nelson's is a recently new member of the Morton Chamber of Commerce. -
2012 Chicago Culinary Tour (28)
At our 2011 Oktoberfest fundraiser, one of the auction items sold, was a Chicago Culinary Tour. Recently, the buyer, Georgia Glynn, along with 5 of her friends, went with Foundation Executive Director, Scott Witzig, his wife, Darci and Chef Sally Davis, tour guide for the trip. The group made 15 stops at ethnic and specialty food stores in Chicago. Below are some pictures from the event. -
MYBA Baseball Field (11)
The Morton Youth Baseball Association, in conjunction with Morton School District 709, and the Morton Park District is constructing this new baseball facility. It is already well on its way toward completion. It will be the premier baseball venue in Central IL when completed. .. to be used by Morton Youth Baseball and Morton High School (as a Varsity playing field), as well as for other baseball tournaments. -
Bernice L. Oberlander/Lynne R. Walters Library Children's Summer Reading Fund (24)
Morton Community Foundation's Executive Director, Scott Witzig, announced the establishment of the new Bernice L. Oberlander/Lynne R. Walters Library Children's Summer Reading Endowment Fund. The fund was established with a generous donation from Mr. and Mrs. Dan & Lynne Walters. Lynne's mother, Bernice Oberlander, was a member of the Library Board for 32 years, and served as President for 28 of those years. -
2011 Oktoberfest Memories (37)
The Morton Community Foundation’s annual fundraiser to raise operating funds was a celebration recognizing the strong character and work ethics of our founding fathers, many of whom were German immigrants. The event was Saturday, October 15, 2011 5:30pm - 10:00pm... an entertaining and enjoyable Oktoberfest-style event.
