McCormick scholarship fund.&nbsp; Young people growing up in a single parent household face many challenges, including paying for a college education.&nbsp; Judy established this scholarship to assist deserving students who desire to pursue a college education, and who live with a single widowed or divorced parent..<br /><br />Judy wrote a brief note to the recipient of this $1000 scholarship.&nbsp; It reads as follows:&nbsp; &ldquo;My reason for establishing the college scholarship fund in my husband and his first wife&rsquo;s name was because we each came from divorced families and experienced the struggles a single parent goes through in trying to provide the best possible opportunities for continuing education for their children.<br /><br />It is my sincere hope that in some small way, the scholarship will make that opportunity easier for someone in a similar situation. &ldquo;<br /><br />The counseling staff at MHS annually appoints a committee to select the recipient, consisting of members of the counseling and teaching staff of MHS.&nbsp; Qualifications of the scholarship are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Must be an MHS Senior who will be attending college or university in the year immediately following graduation.</li>
<li>Living with a single widowed or divorced parent.</li>
<li>Has demonstrated the following attributes during high school:</li>
<li>Positive attitude, Encouraging to others, Charitable, Free spirited, Hard working, Compassionate, Fun Loving, Non-judgmental/Open-Minded, and a Role model to underclassmen.</li>

McCormick Memorial Scholarship is Kayla Campbell.&nbsp; Kayla was a member of the MHS Key Club for 2 years and was a Peer Tutor one year.&nbsp; She played soccer at MHS for all 4 years, and was a team Captain.&nbsp; She plans to attend Illinois State University.</p>
<p>The scholarship was presented at the MHS Honors and Leadership Recognition night on Monday, April 3, 2012 by Mr. Matt Jaeger, the grandson of William and Betty McCormick.&nbsp;</p>]]></content></entry></feed>
