Morton Lacrosse Club Fund

Through your generous donation, you are joining the Morton Lacrosse Club and the Morton Community Foundation in the initial start-up costs of purchasing needed equipment and gear to establish a quality Lacrosse program for Morton’s youth. The club program is currently open to High School and Jr. High age boys and girls, but will be expanded to include younger children in spring 2013. Morton Lacrosse Club is dedicated to providing its members and our community with the opportunity to discover and ultimately embrace the shared passion of the lacrosse experience.

Morton Grade Schools Receive Lacrosse Gear

L to R: Tyler Paget, Captain, Morton Lacrosse Club; Scott Witzig, Executive Director, Morton Community Foundation; Sheila Taylor, Principal, Lincoln School; Susan Grzanich, Principal, Jefferson School; Faith Waterfield, Principal, Lettie Brown School; Roy Paget, President, Morton Lacrosse Club; (Not Pictured - Michael Saunders, Principal, Grundy School). Each District 709 Morton elementary school received approximately $450 to be used for the purchase of a set of Lacrosse sticks, balls and goal nets.

The Morton Lacrosse Club (MLC) challenged local individuals and businesses to make donations to the Morton Lacrosse Club Fund, a Component Fund of the Morton Community Foundation.  Each donation would be matched by MLC funds and would then be used to provide a grant to each Morton District 709 school for the purchase of a "Lacrosse Kit" (set of Lacrosse sticks, balls and goal nets.)  These "Kits" will provide the necessary equipment to be used in a Lacrosse curriculum for P.E.

Those who participated in the "challenge", who made donations to be matched by Morton Lacrosse Club funds were:

Illinois Branch Office of The Erie Insurance Group, East Peoria IL
Heartland Behavioral Health
Aqua Diving School, Morton IL
Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Gail Jones

The MLC also held a clinic to teach the grade school P.E. teachers the basic rules, strategies, etc. of Lacrosse.
