Drew M. Cousins Memorial Scholarship Fund

Football became... the definition of his goals...

Established in 2004 by his family in loving memory of their son and brother the Drew M. Cousins Memorial Scholarship is intended to help deserving young men at Morton High School continue the pursuit of football. The scholarship has been in the amount of $2500 and it is the family’s intention to endow the  fund for at least that amount.

Born in Sterling, IL and raised in Pekin, IL Drew moved to Northern Oaks Lake in Groveland, IL in 1994 and attended Morton Junior High school as well as Morton High School.

2012 Winner - Matt Hungate

Scott Witzig, Executive Director of the Morton Community Foundation, presents the 2012 Drew M. Cousins Memorial Scholarship to Matt Hungate.  This scholarship is given annually to an MHS Senior who has excelled in high school football, and who will be playing football in college.  The scholarship winner is chosen by the Football coaching staff.

Matt Hungate, 6'4", 240 lb. Offensive Tackle, was a six-time letterwinner, earning three letters in football and three letters in baseball.  He was Football team captain during his senior season, two-time Peoria Journal-Star All Area first team selection, two-time Mid-Illini All Conference first team selection and All-State honorable mention during his senior year.  Matt helped lead the MHS Football team to state playoffs for two-consecutive seasons and earned Academic All-State honors two times.  He was coached by Jason Thiry.

Matt plans to attend Georgetown University in Washington, DC to attend college.  He will play both football and baseball for Georgetown.
